DNA Sequencing and Proteome Research
LMA Gantry
The LMA gantry as a high precision, high-speed robot spotter for DNA microarrays.
Travels up to 1 m
Velocity capability to 3 m/s
Acceleration capability to 3 g
10 nm resolution; ±1 µm accuracy
Force output from 32 N to 276 N
Utilizing linear motor direct-drive technology, LMA- and
LMAC-based systems can dramatically improve
acceleration, speed, throughput, and accuracy of DNA and
Proteome research processes when compared to traditional
ball screw or belt-driven actuators. The LMA series has
integral cable management that can be expanded to include
electrical and pneumatic signals to actuate dispensing heads,
reducing the implementation complexity and improving the
reliability of the overall system. In addition, Aerotech offers
a complementary line of drives and controllers to provide a
complete solution to your automation needs.
Aerotech’s long history of producing robotics for the
semiconductor industry gives us an edge when you need the
resolution and accuracy required for a high density,
photolithographically manufactured array. The LMA
provides ±1 µm accuracy over 25 mm, allowing manufacture
of even the highest density photolithographically produced
microarrays with 20 µm features. The LMA is also well-
suited for use with inkjet and pin-based dispensing
technologies, where its superior speed and acceleration can
significantly boost your throughput.
