Aerotech Limited, the European subsidiary of the USA based high performance motion control systems designer and manufacturer has welcomed the return of Simon Smith as European Manager for its newly formed Control Systems Division.
Smith had previously worked for Aerotech for around nine years to 2005, with over six years as Managing Director, and left to pursue emigration to New Zealand and a senior position with Rockwell Automation NZ Ltd. As the global industrial automation manufacturers National Marketing Manager he managed its South Pacific communication program, product management and business strategies. On his return to the UK last year he worked as the European Distribution Manager for Trio Motion Technology and started the new position with Aerotech last month.
The role includes full responsibility for the European Control Systems Division which aims to promote, develop and grow the sales of Aerotechs already formidable range of rotary and linear servo motors, amplifiers and motion controls into existing and new market areas. Aerotechs planned expansion into the industrial controls arena includes a parallel initiative in USA and Asian markets and will involve the development of new products and augmentation of the competitive position and product features on existing lines.
'Simons broad engineering and marketing experience in our traditional high precision positioning markets and his recent experience in industrial automation is the perfect starting point for the new division' said Dr. Cliff Jolliffe, Managing Director of Aerotech Limited, 'By providing our existing sales channels with more market opportunities and developing new sales channels for this important part of our product range, we hope to increase our industrial motion control sales substantially in the coming years.'
