Aerotech
introduces its latest air-bearing stage series, the ABL2000. ABL2000
air-bearing stages are available in travel lengths up to 1.2 meters and
speeds from 0.1 mm/second to 3 meters/second. A wide range of feedback
devices is offered, from cost-effective linear encoders to ultra-high
resolution laser interferometers. An intelligent and robust cable
management system (CMS) makes system integration easy and results in
millions of cycles of maintenance-free operation. The standard CMS is
designed to incorporate customer cabling, easing integration.
Resolution and
accuracy with a non-contact linear encoder are 20 nm and ± 1 micron,
respectively. A laser interferometer transducer option provides resolution
to 0.3 nm and submicron accuracy. Exceptional positioning characteristics
coupled with high speed and acceleration capabilities make these stages
the ideal solution for high accuracy and high throughput applications.
The ABL2000 series
stages feature exceptional pitch, roll and yaw characteristics (± 1
arc-second/100 mm) due to Aerotechs proprietary manufacturing
techniques that produce stages with unsurpassed geometrical accuracies.
Design features of these stages include a small cross section for a narrow
profile and large air-bearing surfaces for excellent stiffness and load
carrying capability.
Aerotech-manufactured
brushless linear servomotors drive ABL2000 air-bearing stages. Optimized
by Aerotech engineers for high-performance positioning applications, the
brushless linear motors feature an ironless design, eliminating attractive
forces, and very low ripple, resulting in extremely smooth stage motion.
To achieve
positioning systems with unequaled velocity stability and accuracy,
Aerotech also manufactures complementary lines of drives and motion
controllers. Aerotech drives and controllers incorporate unique circuit
designs and control algorithms necessary to achieve high-performance
motion control.
Because all of the
core elements of the motion platform mechanics, motors, drives and
controls are manufactured by Aerotech, systems are fully optimized and
tested as a turnkey system prior to leaving Aerotech's state-of-the-art
