Aerotechs
family of "U-channel" brushless linear servomotors includes
the BLMUC, BLMC, BLM, BLMH, and BLMX series motors. Each series features
a high-efficiency magnetic circuit design. Performance can be further
enhanced with special magnet options to increase force or lower heat
dissipation. A non-magnetic forcer eliminates cogging and magnetic
attraction to allow extremely smooth motion and very tight velocity and
position control.
The motors are direct drive and
consist of only two non-contacting parts a moving forcer coil and a
"U-channel" rare earth magnet track. The forcer coil resides
inside the "U-channel" magnet track. This design eliminates
backlash, windup, wear and maintenance issues associated with ball
screws, belts, and rack and pinions. Travel lengths are unlimited due to
Aerotechs unique "stackable" magnet track system with
symmetrical mounting-hole pattern.
Continuous force ratings range
from 36.5 to 74.3 newtons (8.2 to 16.7 pounds) for the ultra compact
BLMUC series, up to as high as 1019 to 1183 newtons (229 to 266 pounds)
for the BLMX series. Peak forces range from 147 to 297 newtons (33.0 to
66.8 pounds) for the BLMUC series, up to as high as 4075 to 4733 newtons
(916 to 1064 pounds) for the BLMX series.
Custom versions of these motors
are available. Aerotech also offers a complementary line of brushless
