| Aerotech announces the availability of
the AGS10000 series gantry positioning systems which feature the
companys BLM series rare earth linear brushless servo motors in place
of conventional ball screw drives. AGS10000 series gantry positioning
systems harness the acceleration and velocity capabilities of linear
motors while eliminating the wear and maintenance issues present with
ball screw drives.
High force linear brushless servo
motors propel AGS series gantries to a top speed of 3.0 meters/second at
acceleration rates as great as 2 g or 20 meters/second(2) while
maintaining fast settling times. Possessing high dynamic stiffness, AGS
gantries are equally adept at executing punishing point-to-point moves
and demanding complex contour profiles. As opposed to conventional ball
screw based designs, wear and lubrication issues are removed as
application and system considerations as the linear motors are
non-contacting elements.
To satisfy todays fine pitch component
requirements, AGS10000 gantry offer 0.1 micron resolution and highly
accurate and repeatable 2 micron placement capability.
Modular in design, AGS10000 series
gantries can be easily configured to accommodate a variety of payloads
and travel options up to 1 meter. For further application versatility,
the Z and theta axes are customizable in four axis systems (pictured).
Over travel limits and damped end stops
provide protection against overruns, and home limits permit precise axis
referencing.
Common configurations include two-axis
systems for vision inspection applications and four axis systems
(pictured) for component pick-and-place. Other applications include
laser cutting/welding, dispensing, robotic solder/desolder and general
point-to-point and contoured path automation applications.
AGS10000 series gantry positioning systems
are available in travel lengths up to 1 meter. Delivery is eight weeks
