Highmark Invests $2.4 Million in Workforce Development

More people are employed in the Pittsburgh region than ever before, yet we don’t have enough skilled workers in the pipeline to replace retiring Baby Boomers, which creates a significant challenge for employers. To help address this issue, Highmark launched the “Highmark Local Workforce Initiative,” which invested more than $2.4 million dollars in 31 non-profit organizations across Pennsylvania that are dedicated to job training and career development. Evan Frazier, SVP of community affairs at Highmark Health is joined by Ashley Wellner, director of manufacturing at Aerotech to discuss the initiative and the hiring challenges facing employers today.
