High precision motion control applications such as laser micromachining, 2-photon polymerization, glass panel and film patterning, and additive manufacturing now seek to take advantage of the improved precision offered with many high-speed galvanometers. In the past, either very small fields of view had to be used to allow advanced optical configurations with these scanners, or exotic and error-inducing routines such as step-and-scan strategies would be needed to allow processing of larger work pieces. Now an advanced drawing post-processor, along with motion controller enhancements, allows simple interleaving of servo and scanner motion over large fields of view and virtually any pattern type, without the need for time-consuming optimization.
