Aerotech Opening German Laser Lab, Establishing European Hub for Micromaterial Processing
PITTSBURGH, JANUARY 2026 – Aerotech Inc., a global leader in precision motion control and automation, today announced it is opening a laser lab in Fürth, Germany. A significant expansion of Aerotech’s current Fürth site’s capabilities, this state-of-the-art laser lab will be a European center for the development, testing and validation of laser-based manufacturing processes.
The Fürth laser lab will offer customers in Europe the opportunity to test and optimize laser-based manufacturing processes directly on site using Aerotech products. The aim is to demonstrate applications under realistic conditions and to further develop them together with customers.
“Many companies want to not only develop their processes theoretically, but also verify them in conjunction with real systems,” explains Stephan Schech, managing director of Aerotech GmbH. “The new laser laboratory in Fürth creates the right environment for this and makes collaboration with customers much easier.”
In addition to an ultra-short pulse laser from Light Conversion, a pioneer in femtosecond lasers and laser systems, the lab will be equipped with a wide range of Aerotech systems:
- Two-, three- and five-axis laser scan heads
- High-precision servo stages
- The Automation1 control platform, which includes special functions for laser material processing such as Infinite Field of View (IFOV) and Position-Synchronized Output (PSO)
With complementary systems that can process varied substrates and materials, the lab will enable demonstrating and optimizing standard processes and customer-specific applications.
“We provide systems that represent the entire spectrum of our capabilities in laser processing,” explains Bryan Germann, product manager at Aerotech. “This creates a platform on which customers can develop their processes and test them directly in the laboratory.”
The new German laser lab is an expansion of Aerotech’s laser testing capabilities at its global headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA, and Light Conversion’s facility in Sunnyvale, CA.
