Cutting Millions of Displays a Month Without Growing the Footprint
Display cutting is a volume problem with a quality floor. A manufacturer serving mobile device and automotive demand had to cut millions of displays each month, hold yield against strict end customer standards and do it without expanding the equipment footprint or the capital budget.
A single control system handled scan head, servo motion and laser triggering together, which shortened development and reduced floor space. Coordinating the scan head with servo stage motion allowed a smaller laser spot across a larger part area, raising part quality and cutting cycle time. A laser-triggering mechanism built into the control hardware fires on spot position rather than elapsed time, which holds quality as speeds rise. The AGV-XPO two-axis scan head contours at high dynamics with single-digit micrometer tracking error at top speed.
