Automation1 iXA4 1- or 2-Axis PWM Servo Drive with Motion Controller
Take full control of your industrial and research systems with the iXA4 PWM Servo Drive with HyperWire Motion Controller. The iXA4 is the most complete, simplest to deploy Automation1 hardware solution for servo motor drive motion systems. You’ll build more economical, more compact motion systems faster using this streamlined multi-axis hardware design with embedded controller.
The iXA4’s brings Automation1 precision to multiple axes of motion in the same machine footprint — without needing an industrial PC. Control 12 HyperWire® axes of motion and run up to nine user tasks on the embedded Automation1 controller. As a drive, the iXA4 supports multiple feedback device types and includes on-board memory. The amplifiers control brushless AC, brush DC, voice coil and stepper motor types at up to 340 VDC operating voltage and 20 A peak current capability.

Key Applications
The iXA4 is a part of the user-friendly Automation1 motion control platform, which includes the following:
Better Motion. Better Control.
The iXA4 delivers better motion control to more machine builders and automation system developers. Its efficient design is a perfect fit for contoured multi-axis motion control and point-to-point applications. The embedded iSMC motion controller can control up to 12 axes of motion, including onboard axes and those extended over the HyperWire motion bus.
Contoured applications such as laser cutting, laser welding and precision dispensing are all possible with the iXA4. The iXA4 includes features such as Autofocus and velocity or torque control, making it an ideal solution for fast point-to-point motion followed by placement and/or picking applications. Torque and force control also make iXA4 a great candidate for dynamic material testing systems.
Simple to Integrate
The powerful Automation1-iSMC motion controller brings serious application integration power to the iXA4. Use the powerful Automation1 APIs (provided with the Automation1-MDK motion development kit) to integrate the controller into your own custom application or avoid coding and quickly develop your own custom user interface with the Automation1 MachineApps HMI Builder for Windows PCs. The Automation1 controller supports RS-274 G-code natively and allows extra large programs (including points files) to be streamed to the controller using the APIs. Whether you have a simple sub-millisecond process or something that goes on for days, the iXA4 and Automation1 can meet your application needs.
Control the World of Precision
Have you been struggling with general automation solutions? Step into the world of precision motion with the iXA4. PLC-based motion can’t compare to our industry-leading Automation1 control platform - and it is more accessible than you think.
The iXA4’s standard features include a 5GB controller file system, Modbus industrial ethernet connectivity, safe torque off (STO), a data array with more than 16 MB of memory, dedicated home and end-of-travel limit inputs and an enhanced current sense device. The iXA4 accepts square-wave and absolute encoder feedback signals. With the optional encoder multiplier feature, you can multiply sine-wave encoders by up to 4,096.
The iXA4 also includes many process control features such as Part-Speed Position Synchronized Output (PSO) to trigger a process tool like an industrial laser or camera based on your vector programmed velocity. A 24-volt, one amp brake output is included. The device is CE approved, NRTL safety certified and EU 2015/863 RoHS 3 directive certified. The power amplifier bandwidth is software selectable.
